A first for Wythe, taking the beloved hunting pockets from our Beachcloth jacket and updating this model for an easy spring/summer shirt jacket. All of the seams are reinforced to help keep needed strength on this lightweight fabric. Our favorite way to wear these jackets are open over a tee or ribbed tank top. Feel free to match them with the popovers or workshirts for a nice tonal elevated look, or pair with the matching pants for an easy summer suiting option.
These fabrics were all inspired by early 19th and 20th century French and American handspun indigo dyed fabrics. Originally made on a narrow handlooms the fabrics were handsewn together and used for anything and everything in early homesteads. There are surviving examples of skirts, aprons, towels, and bed linens. All beautifully handmade and loved for many years. Inevitably these pieces include many worn in areas that have been repaired and patched. For this collection we showed these original handmade fabrics to a specialist mill in Chennai that was able to recreate this rustic look and feel while also making the fabric super comfortable against the skin. Its lightweight enough for the dead heat of the summer sun, while the cotton and linen fibers help to regulate the temperature on the skin. The indigo yarns will fade and soften with each wash and each day spent enjoying the sun.
